Bleach TYBW Part 3 Episode 8 Recap
In the first part of this episode, the spotlight is on two fan-favourite characters, Zaraki and Mayuri, as they encounter a perplexing new opponent. Their adversary, Pernida, is one of Yhwach’s elite guards and boasts a truly unique and unsettling appearance. Until now, Pernida has remained shrouded in mystery, concealed beneath a hood. Its inflated head immediately catches the eye, adding to the intrigue.
True to his impulsive nature, Zaraki charges headlong at Pernida without considering the consequences, resulting in his hand being severed. Despite inflicting some damage on the enemy, his efforts appear futile, as Pernida remains unaffected. Zaraki’s reckless approach quickly backfires, leaving him in a dire situation. Recognizing the danger, Mayuri steps in, administering an anaesthetic to prevent Zaraki from further jeopardizing himself. This paves the way for a bizarre and intense showdown between Mayuri and Pernida, revealed to be the left arm of the Soul King.
This battle highlights the full extent of Mayuri’s ingenuity and resourcefulness. His abilities go far beyond his Zanpakuto, showcasing his knack for devising unconventional strategies and counterattacks. It’s fascinating to see how he faces an opponent like Pernida, whose nerve-controlling powers could easily overwhelm most fighters. Mayuri, however, has no reservations about sacrificing his own body if it means gaining the upper hand—a testament to his cold, calculated nature.
Bleach TYBW Part 3 Episode 9 Review And Recap
The scene opens with Mayuri’s newly evolved Bankai exploding after it devours Pernida. Kyoraku understands that something must have happened, but there are far more pressing matters in front of him. He and the others, along with him, can’t really measure whether their enemy is near or far. Hence, should they slow down or increase their speed even though a threat can pop out from any corner at any time? Kyoraku also understands that he must confront Barro because his precise shots add to the danger. Thus, we see another legendary battle begin between Barro and Kyoraku.
The fight between these two formidable entities starts, and right off the bat, it is apparent that they are evenly matched. Kyoraku uses his powers to manifest children’s games into reality and successfully avoids being shot by Barro in his chest. But things become more problematic when Barro figures out how Kyoraku’s Shikai works, and a severe clash takes place.
When Nanao comes to inquire about Kyoraku, he tells her to move on with others as he will be enough to handle Barro. Shinji readily agrees as he believes now that Kyoraku is the head captain, everyone should have that much faith in him. Back in the battle, we learn about Barro’s power a bit more and how there is no room for dodging his shots. Apparently, the gun he carries is his bow, and it is made up of Reishi. This is why, he can shoot even with the barrel cut off or rebuild the gun every time it breaks. The situation further deteriorates after Barro opens his left eye.
Today’s episode was again a visual masterpiece with great pacing. The animation has not let us down for even a moment, and we are constantly reminded just how much effort the studio has put into this project. The background music also complements the scenes very well.
Verdict
This episode was brilliant as we got to see the Bankai of Kyoraku. He quickly showcases why he became the head captain after Yamamoto’s death and proves he truly deserves the position he is in. This segment was beautiful, and only because of this part, I would suggest you watch this episode.
